Yoga found Clare as an eighteen-year-old student in the north of England. In her first class she experienced an awareness and connection with her breathing that was profoundly calming and resonant. She felt at home. This experience was to become a catalyst for discovery through yoga that has been a passion for the past three decades. In 2000, after a trip to Nepal to study traditional Ayurvedic practices, she decided to become a teacher and enrolled in a teacher training program with Sarah Powers. In the years since, she has deepened her skills with extensive guidance from master teachers and by undertaking further transformative yogic and holistic trainings. Clare believes her greatest insights have come from her personal practice and undoubtedly from her many wonderful students who inspire her daily.
Clare teaches weekly classes and also leads workshops and retreats in the US and internationally. Her style of teaching is deeply intuitive. She responds to the energy and needs of her students with warmth, support and clarity. In each class you can expect to experience a journey through asana, pranayama,
meditation and seasonally complementary practices that hold at their core a deep respect for our essential nature. The practice is simultaneously vibrant and contemplative and creates the literal and figurative breathing space needed to slow down and cultivate fresh insights. Clare believes that meeting ourselves in this way supports the blossoming of a healthy body, open heart and radiant mind that transcends our yoga mats. She draws from her studies in traditional Hatha, Iyengar, Vinyasa, Tantra and Yin yoga with insights from Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Her classes are uniquely resonant of these many teachings. She is inspired by her students and their transformations on and off the mat and feels deeply blessed to be able to share her passion. She lives in the Bay Area with her husband and two daughters.
